Materka's paintings, usually created on the basis of her own photographs, are an analysis of the visual apparatus and the impact on it of modern optical technologies and methods of generating images (digital, television, microscopic images, ASCII code). Another thread that inspires the artist are image deformations related to neurological disorders. The issue of emotions related to his personal life constantly arises - the heroes of Materka's paintings are usually people from his immediate surroundings: his wife Joanna, his son Tytus and his friends. Often, it is the emotions generated in relationships with them that find pictorial visualization; under their influence, images and images become distorted, discolored, diverge and overlap, demanding various perspectives of seeing and understanding.
